McPhee Nearing Hull Return

Injured striker Stephen McPhee may be making a return to action in the coming weeks.

After taking part in his first training session for over a year, the striker will be hoping to regain fitness in the next three to four weeks after a serious injury sidelined the striker for 12 months.

A £400,000 signing from Portuguese side Beira Mar, the striker arrived with high expectations, especially as his previous English career with Port Vale had been a success, seeing the striker score many goals. Unfortunately, after only four games of the 2005/06 season, the striker picked up a hamstring injury.

McPhee`s last appearance came as a substitute against Plymouth Argyle where a Stuart Elliott goal meant the Tigers came away with a 1-0 victory but McPhee is relishing the chance of pulling on the black and amber jersey again.

Despite a hamstring injury keeping the striker out for a month, the diagnosis soon grew worse when a serious bone defect in the player`s knee was discovered. After several operations to correct the serious problem, the striker is hopeful of making a return, all be it in the reserves.

The striker will have to work hard to displace current partners Michael Bridges and Jon Parkin whom are occupying the current striking roles. With Nicky Forster and Daryl Duffy still waiting for their first team chances, the small striker certainly has a long battle ahead if he is to establish himself as a first team regular.

Although McPhee has only just returned to training, his comeback has been focused around running and squats as he looks to regain his fitness before he is handed a reserve team opportunity.

We wish Stephen all the best as he recovers from his serious injury. We hope to see you represent us soon!

Will he start up-front? or should we keep Bridges and Parkin there. Probably be Bridges and McPhee is he came straight back in.

great news ! I think Bridges with Mcphee will be a lethal partnership and will change the way the whole team plays ie on the floor rather than hoof the ball up in hope of finding the big man !
