Nervous Times Lie Ahead For Hull

Hull City’s place in the Championship became even more precarious on Saturday as they now sit only one place outside of the relegation zone thanks to a superior goal difference over Yorkshire rivals Leeds United.

As the Tigers were drawing at home to Colchester, both Leeds United and Barnsley were recording vital wins, meaning it now looks a two horse race between Leeds United and Hull City for the final relegation spot.

Leeds have recorded four straight home victories and with three games remaining, the West Yorkshire club has one home game remaining against mid-table Ipswich Town. Phil Brown’s men also have one game remaining as they entertain Plymouth Argyle on the final day of the season.

These two home games represent both club’s best chance of picking up points. With both teams having two difficult away games, the home games will be critical in ensuring survival.

Whilst both teams will expect to win their home encounters, a solitary point picked up on the road during the next two games may be the difference between relegation and Championship survival.

Both teams face play-off hopefuls and any points collected will be a welcome bonus. If, as hoped, both teams only pick up points from their home games, the City would survive thanks to their superior goal difference.

At the moment, the club’s superior goal difference is the only plus point. With the team in abysmal form and not looking as if they are going to turn things around, the momentum is with our relegation rivals rather than ourselves.

With Stoke City the club’s next opponents on Saturday, the team knows they must pick up at least a point in order to survive this season. if the team was to slip into the relegation zone at this late stage of the season, there may be no turning back!

No idea what goes through the players minds…..but they have to be up for the fight that lays ahead in the next three games….sadly, I am not so sure that they are….

even if we do stay up we need a massive overhual for next season if we want to avoid the same old story. if we go down we will have to chop away at the deadwood and bring in quality to make us a force to be rekoned with if we want to bounce stright back up
