Hull City’s newest loan signing Ray Parlour made his Tigers debut against Championship leaders Derby County in Saturday’s 2-2 draw.

The former England and Arsenal man made his debut in the sixty-second minute as a substitute after he replaced returning midfielder John Welsh, and immediately his impact was noticeable.

The midfielder hadn’t played a competitive game since May 2006 when he played for Middlesbrough, but the former England man has been training with Arsenal as he searched for another club.

With a loan deal secured until the end of the Championship season, Parlour has fourteen games remaining to ensure he doesn’t have a relegation to add to his CV.

Parlour was introduced into the game with the Tigers trailing but he played a vital role during the build-up play to Livermore’s brilliant equaliser.

The Vital Hull forums contained several messages explaining the impact that Parlour had made,

‘I thought he displayed a class that we have lacked in midfield for years. Although NT got it right when he said he ‘passed the ball with ease in midfield and played with great positional play’. His impact in the last quarter against a quality team makes me believe he will have a significant influence in the matches that remain once he gets used to his team mates.’

The Tigers now have a ten day rest until their crucial fixture against Barnsley at Oakwell, and all week, we will be building up to this critical match.

I think he will be a big signing for us if only for his depth of experience…already seems to have made an impact with his passing and the way he read the game……
