Pedersen Returns In One Week

Henrik Pedersen continues his road to recover as the former Danish international is set to feature in the reserves next week.

Pedersen, who joined in the summer having worked with Phil Brown in the Premier League at Bolton Wanderers, has been missing for the past eight weeks with a series of injuries that almost halted his initial signing for the club. Pedersen failed two fitness tests before finally passing his medical as he completed his move to the Tigers, but since the start of the season, Pedersen has struggled to feature.

When the left sided winger did feature, Pedersen looked a constant threat with his best performance to date coming in the 3-1 win over Ipswich Town in an appearance that saw him net twice. However, his appearances have not been frequent, with Pedersen featuring in four league games and one League Cup game since his move to the club.

The Dane was supposed to be the answer to the clubs left sided problems, but instead, another summer signing has had to cover that position until Pedersen regains match fitness. Bryan Hughes, who is more natural playing in the centre of the midfield, has been pushed out to the left to cover Pedersen`s absence and although looking awkward initially, the former Charlton man appears to have settled into a wider role. However, if Pedersen does return, Hughes may see himself dropped to the bench if he can`t force his way into one of the two central midfield roles.

Pedersen`s former Bolton team-mate Jay Jay Okocha remains a sidelined figure having failed to impress since arriving. With several question marks over his attitude and commitment, the return of his friend Henrik Pedersen may see an up-turn in Okocha`s form on the pitch as the two start to combine again.

Henrik Pedersen will make his long awaited return next week when the Tigers welcome Lincoln City for a reserve game at North Ferriby`s Church Road Ground.

I doubt he will have that much of a part to play with his injury problems being too severe – is he just another expensive luxury?

Lets give the guy a chance. He lucks really good when fit and playing and if he can get a good run of games with him and Jay Jay we be up they at the end of the season.

I’d like to think he is over his injuries, and can help the squad finish the season well to earn a play-off place or better. Something tells me he will only get a couple of games under his belt before we loose him for the rest of the season. 3 medicals should have been warning enough PB. We need to find the young emerging talent from around Europe, what are the scouting team paid for? Finding a couple of injured, over paid has beens to warm the bench/treatment tables is not good enough. What ever happened to the young lad from Ireland we were chasing in pre-season? I hope he proves me wrong, and bags half a dozen goals before shining in the Wembley Play-off Final!!

Having Henrik back ain’t exactly gonna weaken us, fair play to him. Basel Tiger Roy O’Donovan went to Sunderland (probably the Keane/ Quinn connection) but isn’t exactly pulling up any trees and is not a regular starter I believe. Could sound them out over possible loan deal?

  • Basel Tiger says:

Thanks for the info on Roy. Not sure if he is going to add value, but your right, a loan deal will give us the chance to see what he’s about.
