Head coach Leonid Slutsky was delighted to see Hull City take victory over Bolton Wanderers on Friday evening.

Hosting the side at the KCOM Stadium for the game, goals from Adama Diomande, a Jarrod Bowen brace and Kamil Grosicki gave us the four nil victory and the game was largely comfortable.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media for his post game press conference, a delighted Slutsky explained.

‘It was a good performance. We scored four goals and it was our first clean sheet so everything is good. I think it was very important to score first. Automatically we had a lot of free spaces after this and we used them. When they conceded first a lot of free space appears and we used this and that was successful.’

With Grosicki not only getting his goal, but also getting two assists on the evening, he obviously came in for praise.

‘He was very good as he got two assists and one goal. In my opinion, when he wants to be good he can win any match. Today he wanted to win and we did.’

As did Diomande given his own showing.

‘It was a good performance as he scored and that’s always the main objective for a striker. It was a difficult time for him because he didn’t get much practice because he was injured in pre-season, but now he has scored in a serious match which is pleasing.’

With Bowen getting the brace, Slutsky said he wasn’t surprised as he’d shown that in training, so he was pleased he made that impact on the pitch.

‘It was no big surprise. I watched a lot of his matches in pre-season and he was the best striker. I’m never thinking about whether he’s young, you’re either a good player or not. Now he is one of the best players in our team for goals. He has had an unbelievable start.’

Having kept our first clean sheet of the year, that was another sense of pleasure for him.

‘It was very important to get a clean sheet. We had a big 4-1 result and a few defeats but we didn’t have a clean sheet so to get that is good for us.’

With Hull now going into the international break, Slutsky was pleased to be able to give the players time to rest given how quickly the game have come in the first month of the year.

‘Now there’s an international break so we can rest some important players so it’s an important time. We must also adapt new players and we are working hard on the transfer market. For everyone else, it could be a break but for me and the club it is a difficult time.’

Bowen was also in front of the media following the game and he was obviously pleased with his performance.

‘I don’t think the night could have gone any better for us really. Like we said before the game, the only objective for us was to get the three points after the last couple of results and we managed to do that with a very dominant performance.’

He went on to say.

‘We didn’t allow Bolton to get a foothold in the game and we dominated from the first minute all the way through. We were happy with the performance and happy that we got the goals to match it. Kamil was unbelievable on the night and that is what he brings to us. He’s got the pace, he’s got the final delivery and he’s managed to get a goal and two assists for us in this game.’

As for his own showing he added.

‘I’m delighted to get another two goals. I got my first and with us attacking so much I was keen to get another. Thankfully I got a second near the end and that was nice. It’s fantastic to bounce back before the international break with three points to push us back up the table.’
