Head coach Leonid Slutsky was obviously disappointed following Hull City’s loss on Tuesday evening in the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Hosting Wolves at the KCOM Stadium, Hull fought back from behind twice but couldn’t quite get that third to level the game up and eventually we lost the match three two on the day.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media following the game, Slutsky was obviously disappointed with his first defeat.

‘I am very disappointed with the final result but I am very proud because I think we played against the best team in the league. I researched their matches and at this moment they are the best team. In the second half, we played much better and we had two good chances. The final result is very disappointing but I am very proud because we can play on the same level with the best team in the Championship at the moment. Of course, I hope that we will be the best team soon.’

Slutsky went on to say.

‘I think we showed the same level. I watched all Wolves’ three matches and they hadn’t conceded before today. We had a lot of chances and I think a draw would have been a fairer result but this is football. Again, I’m proud of my team and how we build. We lost, but showed character, skill and good tactics.’

With the defeat comes lessons to learn, so reflecting on that he felt there were positives from the performance whilst there were improvements still to make.

‘I’m very happy working with our team. Yes, we need some new players as a team needs 22 players without goalkeepers and we don’t have that. I am really satisfied with my players and I am very proud and happy to play with this team. We are building a team to the maximum of their ability. I can say ‘thank you’ to each of my players after this match for their effort, but of course, it’s disappointing to lose.’

As for Abel Hernandez and his injury, he said.

‘He will have a scan on Wednesday for us to understand the situation fully, but it looks very serious. It looks like it is an Achilles injury. We will keep our fingers crossed, and we will wait until the results of the scan.’

Transfer market questions obviously featured.

‘We have a good squad and team but we need one or two people who are stronger in certain positions. Maybe we need one or two defenders and one or two attacking players. It isn’t easy. We have a serious competition in our club. For me, my target is if we get a player he will be a really good player. Every day we’re speaking to players, clubs and agents and it’s very difficult to speak about situations. We have some options but for me, it’s about the players in this team- we have 90% of the squad. We are looking at players at a good level, and that means we have competition from other teams to sign good players.’
