Head coach Leonid Slutsky has said he’s made his decision on who will be in the starting line up for the Championship opener against Aston Villa this weekend.

Taking the players through their final practice and he game plan for Saturday’s match at Villa Park, Slutsky told the Official Site that his starting XI had been decided upon and whilst he wasn’t going to reveal it to the press, the players would soon know.

‘I have made the decisions on the starting eleven and today we will be looking at final things about the opposition and at tactical things. I like the players and the team that I have here and I really feel that we have a good starting eleven. We have many leaders here, too. Of course, we are waiting on some new players, but we have a serious core here and we are ready to play tomorrow.’

Slutsky went on to say that having played a full part in training this week, David Meyler would likely be in the match day squad for the game, but having sat out our pre season build up as he recovered from his knee injury, he would be on the bench if he did in fact pick him.

Moses Odubajo, Will Keane and Ryan Mason remain out with long term injuries and goalkeeper David Marshall is about a fortnight away from fitness after damaging his ankle ligaments.

There could be a quick reunion with Ahmed Elmohamady who is expected to be in Villa’s match day squad.
