The offer from Hull City is thought to be around the £200,000 mark – and now we must wait to see whether the bid will be accepted.

Taylor is reluctant to reveal the exact amount bid, but feels the offer is ‘fair’, and now we must wait to see whether the bid is accepted. The bid will not be done in time for the player to arrive before the arrival of Sheffield United.

Taylor said: ‘We have put in an official offer for Duffy now.’

‘We’re not prepared to say how much the offer is but we’re waiting on their response at the minute. We’ve started the process and are trying to get it done as quickly as we possibly can.

‘It won’t be done for Sheffield United but we need to work quickly because we need another striker in the building.’

Falkirk supporters feared that Duffy’s ninth goal of the season scored last weekend could be his last, and now their fears must be slowing becoming more of a reality.

Manager John Hughes has tried to fight off interest, but it seems that City have made an offer which has made Falkirk think about selling their prized asset.

With Craig Fagan struggling for tonight’s match, Taylor wants to get a new striker in as quickly as possible. He isn’t in a rush to get a player in for the cup game, but would like to have a deal concluded before the next league game at home to Crystal palace a week on Saturday.

Taylor added: ‘We think it is a fair offer. It’s all very well someone saying that they’re not prepared to let him go on the cheap but we certainly don’t think our offer is cheap.

‘If someone comes in and offers a much higher price then we’ll be wrong but we’ll have to see what other clubs are willing to offer.

‘We’ve got the FA Cup on Saturday so we’ve still got a week to wait for the offer and look elsewhere if needs be.’

The trio of players – John Welsh, Billy Paynter and Sam Collins are now all thought to be signing for the Tigers now that the transfer window has re-opened. All have impressed during their spell with the club, and it is thought all three will be purchased.

Leaving the club is John Anderson, who moved to Liverpool as part of an exchange which saw John Welsh move in the opposite direction.

We wish the seventeen year old winger all the best in his future course, and wish him luck with his new club.
