The Tigers came away from Elland Road empty handed, but Peter Taylor saw plenty of positives in the game to give us hope for the New Year

City were the better team in the first half and were unlucky to be losing at the break,we might even have been leading had we converted our supremecy into goals.

‘First half I was really pleased with the way we played,’ Taylor said.

‘We were up against a very good team who are one of the favourites for promotion and I thought we coped with everything.

‘We handled the occasion well and played some good stuff. We gave them a chance on the halfway line, which was poor play from us, but other than that I didn’t think they had too many other opportunities in the first half.

‘But then, with two minutes to go, we get a throw-in near our own corner flag and decide to throw the ball infield and lose it.

‘Leeds scored from that and it was a very, very frustrating halftime for me to be 1-0 down when we’d been doing well.’

Leeds second goal which came 11 minutes into the second half was put down to Goalkeeper Error

‘If Bo is going to come for that he’s got to get more on it,’ he continued.

‘If not, he’s got to stay where is. So that was disappointing.

‘But I thought we were the better side first half, and Leeds were in the second half, and our boys were a little bit down at the break coming in at 1-0.

‘Maybe Leeds came out with a bit more confidence at the start of the second half having got the first goal when they did.

‘So second half Leeds were definitely better, but they were still two poor goals for us to concede.’

‘When you play Leeds away from home you’re not going to get a great deal of chances,’ he added.

‘It’s a case of working hard as a team and I thought we did that.

‘I’m sure we’ll take the positives from the performance – we had no fear and passed the ball around.

‘The only downside was the injury to Craig (Fagan) who looks like he has damaged ankle ligaments and is a big doubt for Tuesday night.’
