The Battle Continues

Taylor admitted pour defending is what cost the Tigers in a defeat which saw their four game unbeaten run come to an abrupt end.

Taylor said: ‘We made a good start, but the two goals that Brighton scored were defensively poor from my point of view.

‘I knew how difficult it would be here and that’s how it turned out. Yes, we put in a lot of effort in the second-half, but we could have done a lot, lot better.’

‘It’s very tight near the bottom and make no mistake we are still right in it.’

‘We created a lot of chances in the second-half, but in the first-half it was poor. It was a good goal, but our general play wasn’t good enough and there was a softness about us.

The Tigers were defensively the opposite of what had been the basis for good results in previous matches against Cardiff City and Sheffield Wedneday, which had seen the Tigers start to make a move in the right direction.

The defence failed to close down either shot which led to the two goals.

Taylor said: ‘We did go close to an equaliser, and there was a lot of effort, but I would expect that. I still think it was a disappointing night and we can do a lot better.’

City had defended well in previous games, but that defeat puts us back in the relegation battle. The Tigers must now do well over the Christmas and New Year Period in order to move away from the drop zone and make a move in the right direction up the table.
