A comfortable win for the Tigers and a good all round team performance was the order of the day yesterday as they recorded their second pre-season win of the campaign.

As expected manager Phil Parkinson fielded two different teams in each half including the two trialists from Wednesday night’s game against Winterton Rangers.

A first half strike from John Parkin and second half goals from Stuart Green, Billy Paynter and Stuart Elliott ensured that the sizeable travelling Tiger faithfull went home happy.

From an individual point of view there were some good positive performances. Fagan played on the right wing in the first half and looked very lively, putting in some good crosses. Parkin took his goal well when he scored from what looked like a very tight angle. Dawson had a good game at left back, tackling well and supproting Dyer on the wing, even Lynch looked half decent for once.

In the second half Green was playing some good passes to the front men and new boy Turner looked good in defence. Player of the game for me though was Welsh who played the holding role well and was always looking for the forward pass, especially to green and the two wingers.I think when Marney joins us and plays alongside Welsh in the center, City will have a good partnership.

The only downside from the game was Burgess who looked out of sorts and slow. I think a spell out on loan to the lower leagues is what he needs to build his confidence back up and get him scoring again.

On a whole it was a very pleasing performance from the Tigers, with a lot of possitive gameplay, unlike last seasons defensive long ball stuff.

With the new boys still to make their mark on the team it is looking good at this stage for a succesfull league campaign.

First Half Line Up: Duke, Thelwell, Byron, Delaney, Dawson, Fagan, Fry, Andrews, Dyer, Duffy, Parkin.

Second Half Line Up: Myhill, Lynch, Collins, Turner, Matthews, Brittain, Welsh, Green, Elliott, Paynter, Burgess.

The Tigers are in action again on Wednesday night with a trip to League one side Doncaster Rovers. A full preview and match report will appear here next week.
