In our recent poll, we asked you who Phil Parkinson’s best buy had been this season.

As we all know, Parkinson had a torrid time during his short spell with the club, but have any of the players he signed had a positive impact on the club. After shaky starts, it now seems that several of Parkinson`s signings are integral parts of Phil Brown’s side.

With forty-five percent of the vote, Michael Turner was voted as Parkinson’s best buy. The defender, regarded as one of the best in League 1 when Parkinson signed him from Brentford, had a torrid time during the early stages of the season but has been regarded as the strongest City defender in recent games.

Brown’s decision to omit Turner from the starting line-up against Ipswich was a strange and ultimately costly decision that saw the Tigers slip to an embarrassing home defeat on Tuesday night. Without doubt, Turner must be restored to the first-team on Saturday when Preston North End visits the KC.

In second place, with twenty-two percent of the votes was City midfielder David Livermore. Another player who is highly regarded by the City fans, the former Millwall captain was left out of the sixteen man squad that faced Ipswich. Brown’s decision was purely tactical with rumour suggesting that Livermore was dropped after gifting the opposition goals at Barnsley and Coventry City.

Again, Livermore, arguably the best player this season, must be restored to the starting line-up on Saturday.

In joint third with ten percent of the votes each came Nicky Forster and Michael Bridges. Both players were signed as part of deadline day deals back in September but both failed to blossom under Parkinson. Instead, Forster is enjoying a new leases of life under Phil Brown whilst Michael Bridges’ career has come to a halt following weeks of being overlooked and then a dismissal whilst playing for the Hull City reserves.

The other votes were as follows:

Sam Ricketts – 8%

Dean Marney – 5%

Although Parkinson failed spectacularly at Hull City, the players he brought in are now proving to be vital purchases. Parkinson’s problem seemed to be a lack of motivation but whilst Brown has achieved that on a sporadic basis, every player must perform between now and the end of the season if the club is to survive.

him and forster seems to be the ones surprising us this late in the season, Livermore is also showing his quality… but why did we buy Marney, he’s been useless to say the least
