Under The Spotlight

Despite not being at his best on Cardiff City’s December visit to The KC Stadium, it is undeniable that Cameron Jerome is a promising young striker who has come a long way in a short space of time, especially when you consider he is just 19 years old. Since signing for Cardiff City on a free in 2004, the Huddersfield born forward has proved himself to be quite an asset to the club. Overall this season, Jerome has scored 14 league goals for The Bluebirds and lies 2nd on The Championships leader board, two goals behind Watford’s Marlon King.

Jerome started his career at Huddersfield Town before moving on to premiership side Middlesbrough. Boro, then, perhaps regrettably, released the player and he was offered a contract with Cardiff City where he has remained ever since. Chairman Sam Hammam considers the striker to be so valuable to his squad he recently turned down a reported £2million bid for the player from championship rivals Sheffield United. Hammam claims Cardiff City would sell the 19 year old, who has also attracted the attention of Sunderland, Norwich, Birmingham and West Ham for no less than £3.5million.

A strong and pacey forward, it is hardly surprising that Jerome has managed to hit the target so frequently this season. With The Tigers injury ravaged defence and Ryan France ruled out through suspension, The Tigers will have to work hard to break down Jerome’s attempts to add to his already impressive goal tally.

Seems like you were right Lizzy – I wish the defence could have read your article before they set off for Cardiff
