It doesn’t get much bigger than the match at Old Trafford when Arsenal got to Manchester United in the opening match of the weekend after the international break with this the early kick-off. If the Gunners can get a win they’ll go back to the top of the Premier League, albeit on a temporary basis.
Crystal Palace will host Manchester City looking to upset Pep Guardiola’s side, who could go back to the top of the table depending on what happens in the Arsenal match and the one when Liverpool go to Southampton. Palace’s aims will be for a win at Selhurst Park with the same wanted for the Saints at the St Mary’s Stadium against Jurgen Klopp’s free-scoring table toping Reds.
Everton went into the break with a five-nil thrashing against Chelsea, a reaction will be wanted by the Toffees at Goodison Park against Bob Bradley’s Swansea, who are second-bottom going into this match.
This latest international break probably didn’t come at the right time for Stoke as the run between October and November’s break had seen the Potters in fine form with Bournemouth the visitors to the Bet365 Stadium when Mark Hughes looking to gain another three-points with a huge six-points at the Stadium of Light seeing Hull go to Sunderland with both sides looking for the points, both went into this break with wins the Black Cats’ win was their first.
Last season Leicester would have been favourites to win at Vicarage Road perhaps but the Premier League winners from last season wouldn’t! If Watford didn’t get something the Hornets would be disappointed, with three-points at home targeted.
Saturday is rounded off with Tottenham hosting West Ham with rivals to both Chelsea heading to Middlesbrough on Sunday for the match at Riverside Stadium.
Rounding off this batch of matches completely will be the one at the Hawthorns when West Brom and Burnley meet on Monday in a match both sides would fancy winning, with it a big three-points for either if they come.
We can say it goes without saying the expectation; most definitely the hope at least, will be for a positive result.
