Hull, who were last season a Championship club, come into the meeting with Newcastle, who were in the Premier League, having seen the two sides swap leagues in the summer. The visitors could well be seen at the favourites in this game at the KCOM Stadium.
Going along nicely in the Premier League, sitting just behind leaders Chelsea, Liverpool will host Leeds at Anfield, which the scene of the Reds’ fourth round win over Tottenham. A penalty shootout victory against Norwich put the Whites into the last eight, they’ll look to cause an upset on Tuesday.
Wednesday will bring two all-Premier League ties with Arsenal playing host to Southampton, which is a game that could go either way. Much will depend on the sides put out, by both, in many ways and how much they want this.
After coming through derbies in round four, West Ham seeing off Chelsea and Manchester United beating Manchester City, at game at Old Trafford will see two sides, who drew 1-1 in the Premier League on Sunday, go head to head with a place in the last four at stake.
It goes without saying the expectation; most definitely the hope at least, will be for a positive result and one more tie. But will this happen? We’ll find out soon enough.
