The Premier League season continued with the latest round of games played over the weekend.
Chelsea extended their lead over Tottenham but could have this cut by Manchester City on Monday night. Sunderland’s heavy defeat keeps them bottom below Crystal Palace and Hull.
Here’s a round up of the Premier League action from the other games played, with one game still to take place.

In the early kick off on Saturday an Arsenal win – after back-to-back defeats – reduced the Chelsea lead – they didn’t play until Sunday – to nine points. This 2-0 loss suffered by Hull at the Emirates Stadium meant they missed the chance to move out of the bottom three.
Manchester United made it back-to-back wins to extend their long unbeaten Premier League run with a 2-0 win over Watford. Victory puts United right back into Champions League contention – it also denied the Hornets the chance of a league double.
The Middlesbrough run without a win was extended to eight when Boro were held to a 0-0 draw at the Riverside Stadium by Everton. This goalless draw extended the Toffees’ run to just one defeat in 10 but saw ground lost on Manchester United – in 6th – ahead of them.
Stoke remain on course to finish – in a familiar – 9th after a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. This latest defeat for the second bottom side – an eighth in the last 10 played – sees Palace two points from safety.
A week on from a Sunderland thrashing of Crystal Palace the Black Cats were brought back to earth with a bump after being hammered – for a first defeat in three – by Southampton. A 4-0 win at the Stadium of Light was only a second victory for the Saints in the last eight.
West Ham had recovered from the setback of falling behind to an early West Brom goal to lead two one. However, an equaliser from Albion deep into added time – to consolidate a strong hold on 8th placed – saw this London Stadium encounter end in a 2-2 draw.
The late kick off on Saturday saw Liverpool record a first win in six Premier League games to move back into a Champions League spot. Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat at Anfield – a first in 10 – saw Spurs’ title hopes take a huge blow.
Sunday’s lunchtime kick off saw Chelsea have the chance to go 12 points clear at the top – they were on for this after an early goal. However, Burnley’s impressive home form continued at the Clarets fought back to draw 1-1 at Turf Moor. The Blues had still opened up a 10 point lead over Tottenham and Arsenal.
Swansea’s third win in four – to move the Swans up to 15th and four points clear of trouble – came at Liberty Stadium when they beat Leicester 2-0. This fifth straight Premier League defeat for the Foxes means the champions are just a point and a place off the relegation zone.
Monday nights game will see AFC Bournemouth aim to end a five game winless run – that’s seen the Cherries slip towards relegation trouble – when Manchester City visit. City head to Dean Court looking for a third straight win that would take them from 5th up to 2nd and to within eight points of Chelsea.
