The Premier League season concluded with the latest round of games played over the weekend.
A remarkable goal filled final day ended with Liverpool and Manchester City securing Champions League spots ahead of Arsenal, all three won but it wasn’t enough for the Gunners.
Champions Chelsea thrashed bottom-side Sunderland 5-1 to end in style at Stamford Bridge as runners up Tottenham demolished already relegated Hull 7-1 at the KCOM Stadium.

Despite playing much of the game with 10 men, after Laurent Koscielny was sent off early on, and beating Everton, Arsenal missed out on the Champions League. A Gunners victory was a must but the 3-1 win over the visiting Toffees wasn’t enough as Arsene Wenger’s side finish in fifth – silverware can be salvaged from the season if Chelsea are beaten in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
Burnley couldn’t hold onto a lead at Turf Moor as West Ham came from behind to record a 2-1 win, securing the Hammers an 11th-placed finish.
Having surprisingly slipped behind early on Chelsea roared back into the game recording an eventual 5-1 win over Sunderland. The bottom-sides hopes of a shock victory were short-lived as the Blues became the first English side to win 30 times from a 38 game season.
A second successive Harry Kane hat trick – winning him the golden boot again – meant Hull’s relegation, confirmed at Crystal Palace a week early, came with a 7-1 mauling at the KCOM Stadium against runners up Tottenham, in what could be City boss Marco Silva’s final game in charge?
Leicester recovered from conceding a first minute opener to draw 1-1 with Bournemouth at the King Power Stadium. This point for the Cherries secured them a top-10 spot, ninth is their highest ever topflight finish.
The victory Liverpool needed to secure a Champions League spot came as the opener in first half added time got them on the way to a 3-0 win over second-bottom Middlesbrough, meaning the Reds finished in fourth, a point ahead of Arsenal.
It might have been the youngest ever side fielded by Manchester United in the Premier League, four players were handed debuts, but it didn’t prevent a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.
Southampton’s poor St Mary’s run continued as the Saints, who finished in eighth on goal difference anyway, were beaten by a Stoke side that hasn’t won away since January. In fact this 1-0 win was a first in five as the Potters climbed to 13th.
A third win in a row for Swansea – a fifth in a five game unbeaten run to end the season – was secured as the Swans came from behind to beat West Brom 2-1 at the Liberty Stadium. Albion’s seventh defeat in nine – all without a win – saw them eventually finish in 10th-place.
Walter Mazzarri’s final game in charge of Watford resulted in a 5-0 thrashing in the visit of Manchester City to Vicarage Road, which confirmed City’s third-placed finish. A fifth defeat in a row for the Hornet means they finish a place, 17th, above the relegation zone, albeit six points clear of danger.
