Joleon Lescott was thought to be close to joining Hull earlier this week but now rumours have surfaced that West Bromwich Albion are looking to ‘hijack’ the deal.

A two-year deal was something that the 31-year-old was expected to sign but with his midland roots the Birmingham born defender could now sign for West Brom as this gives him the chance to work with some coaching staff that he’s familiar with as well as new boss Alan Irvine, formerly a coach at Everton when he played for them.

The hopes of signing the former England international haven’t been ‘written off’ completely by all accounts but it is now looking more likely that he’ll be playing at the Hawthorns next season for West Brom instead of playing at it against them for Hull?
