Bad Form Or Bad Luck?

Hull City may have lost their opening three Championship fixtures but is it due to bad form or a case of bad luck?

City have suffered three consecutive defeats against West Brom, Barnsley and Derby County – results which have produced a sense of panic around the KC Stadium. Despite being only three games in, fears of relegation are already in the forefront of many fans minds.

Yet despite three consecutive defeats has it all been that bad? The performances, especially against promotion favorites West Brom have shown promise…for forty minutes against Barnsley fans won’t have seen better attacking play since the move there. The attacking play of Marney and Welsh was a joy to behold whilst it lasted and the goals from the Beast have been a welcome sight – something that sees our striker leading the scorer`s charts.

The Tigers haven’t made a ‘pointless’ start to the campaign but it isn’t through a lack of form…and more through poor officiating.

The opening fixture saw City denied a blatant penalty minutes from full-time after John Welsh was fouled in the penalty area as he was about to slot home a deserved equalizer – the Tigers were awarded nothing and the result finished in a two nil defeat.

Against Barnsley, the decisions evened themselves out as both teams profited from poor refereeing with dubious challenges on the goalkeepers being allowed yet against Derby County the luck went against City again. An offside goal and a harsh penalty decision against Andy Dawson, both backed up by SKY replays meant that City suffered a third straight defeat, something that left Phil Parkinson fuming.

Referees are a constant scourge of football supporters and it seems the new season hasn’t changed one bit. The decisions haven’t gone in our favor and that’s the way it goes when you are struggling – even this early on! It may only be early but with results going against us we don’t need the referees to be against us too. Hopefully Ipswich will provide us with the first sensible and capable referee of the season.

However, there is only so far that excuses of poor officiating can get you – we can’t feel sorry for ourselves every time a decision goes against us and we must get a result against Ipswich Town on Saturday. We may be unlucky again but it’s time to stop complaining about referee’s and produce a performance that even the referee can’t stop!

I agree with that! if the offices were good we would have 4 points now im sure of it. We have played some great attacking football but defender has not been too good we are too open at the back. I just hope we can get a decent defender and a forward who will score 20 goals for us this season. I think we wiill stay up.they are worse teams then us in this league.

Once we get our first win, we’ll be off and running

Cast your minds back to David Lloyd, Martin Fish, Terry Dolan, Mark Hately, Bradford taking over the South Stand at Boothferry, tennis balls on the pitch, collections for players wages, gates to boothferry locked, 24 hrs from going into recievership.

Now were in the second tier of english football, a 25,000 all seater state of the art stadium, One of the brightest mangerial talents in the game at the helm, were attracting players from the premier league, we have a solid fan base of 15,000, and a chairman who isnt afraid to splash the cash when needed.

    Take your pick.

Thats true but i think we should be doin better then we are. We have an Avarage squad with some good young players
that can only get better and with a top young manager.I just think we need to be buyin better players so we can compete with top teams.

Once the players get to know each other we will have a good team that will have no problem staying up in this division. The club is in a great position, unfortunately too many changes (management & players) have happened in a short space of time. I just hope the injury jinx hasn’t come with us from last season!!
