Delaney Out For 3 Months!

If things weren’t going well for City, they have just got worse with the announcement that Damien Delaney will miss the next three months of action due to injury.

Vital Hull announced last Thursday that Delaney had been involved in a training ground injury but the extent of the damage was unknown. Unfortunately, exploratory surgery today showed that the Irish defender has suffered ruptured ligaments to his ankle.

Although it is better than first feared, three months is still an extensive amount of time for an influential player to be missing from the first-team.

Sam Collins filled Delaney’s void in the defeat to Derby County and although he performed well, Parky must surely look for anew central defender.

With only new signing Michael Turner being fully-fit with Sam Collins, Parky must dip into the transfer market to find someone to fill the gap as Delaney and other central defender Danny Coles return from long-term injuries.

After a disappointing start to the season, this isn’t the news fans wanted to hear. With people wanting the remaining transfer money to be spent on a new striker, it seems a central defender is now the main priority. Some internet sources have been predicting a move for Leeds’ defender Sean gregan is on the cards, and with this recent news of Delaney’s injury, perhaps they are right?

The central defender was an ever present in the Tigers survival campaign last season and captained the side in the first two league games of the 2006-07 season. A player who is comfortable with possession at the back, he will be sorely missed and is someone who must be replaced immediately. With some fans already fearing a long season is ahead, it may have just become even longer!

Here at Vital Hull, we wish Damien the quickest of recoveries as we need him back as soon as possible – get better soon!

It’s looking like another injury season for us, we need some one like Sean Gregan to fill the gap untill Delaney gets back. It’s going to be a long hard season me thinks.

We dont want Gregan in.Was you at the K.C when we beat Leeds?he was rubbish. I think we do need a centre half on loan. What about that other Leeds lad who we had last season? I think we should go for that guy at Man utd who they let go on loan.cant remeber his name, used to play for Barcelona aswel.
