Hull City’s Michael Bridges faces a spell on the sidelines through injury, putting the Daryl Duffy loan transfer in jeopardy.

Bridges was forced to hobble off after half an hour of the City reserves two nil defeat to North Ferriby in the ERFCA Senior Cup Quarter Final after a late challenge.

Bridges injury was confirmed today with the player suffering ligament damage. Bridges was making his first appearance after serving a three game suspension for head-butting an opponent during a recent reserve game against Rotherham, but Bridges now looks set for another spell on the sidelines.

Since his move from Carlisle for £325,000 in August, Bridges has found first-team opportunities difficult to come by. Despite an impressive start that saw him debut away at Birmingham City and score a spectacular goal against Leicester, Bridges has often been overlooked.

Bridges has netted two goals in his eight starts this season, and has featured during some part of the game a total of fourteen times.

Bridges injury comes at a time when Hull City was on the verge of allowing Scottish striker Daryl Duffy to move on loan to League 1 team Swansea City. The deal was completed, but Bridges injury has cast doubt over the transfer dealing.

Although not considered a first-team regular, Brown may become reluctant to allow Duffy to move to Swansea if he feels he lacks cover up-front. However, the situation shouldn’t arise with five strikers currently fit and Stephen McPhee almost back to fitness.

Daryl Duffy is still expected to complete his move to Swansea today, but if Brown is worried over the availability of his players, a twenty-four hour recall option may be added to the deal to cover every possibility.

He doesn’t play anyway so it’s no real loss.

this guy must rue the day that he agreed to come to city looking for a way back to the higher levels of football…..a lot of promise but no way through…..suspension and that frustration and now this….. a well spent £325k by the club there….
