The two legged affair with AS Trencin is over, and Hull have come out aggregate 2-1 victors meaning our visit into Europe this season continues for a bit longer.

With the gaffer Steve Bruce targeting the Group stages of the Europa League for us, it would be fair to say that was a little bit of apprehension following the first leg scoreless draw, and things could’ve got worse as we went behind last night, but a good fightback saw us win the game and secure progression.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, Bruce was proud of the efforts of his players and he was delighted for the supporters.

‘I wouldn’t say my emotion was relief, I would say I was more pleased if anything for the supporters, players, coaches and owners. I’m delighted for the people of Hull and it was great to see a full stadium for an historic European match.’

Bruce goes on to say ahead of the game ‘a guy’ came up to him and explained that he never thought he’d see the day where Hull were competing in European competition, so he knows how ‘fabulous’ it is for everyone that we’ve passed the debut test and our participation lasts at least another round.

‘You are always worried at one each with 15 minutes to go, and it would be a shame to fall at the first fence. However, we stuck at it and in truth it’s still pre season for this team and we’ve had to work them very hard for the game in such a short space of time, but we’ve come through and let’s see who we get.’

The gaffer also says that Hull will be a lot better in our next matches having gone through this now.
