Talks on a new ‘long-term contract’ for Curtis Davies have done the round this summer, as yet though these are yet to start.

Rumour has it that the club, in response to his performance last season that saw some talk on an England recall, would offer him a new contract to bring ‘on a par with top earners Nikica Jelavic and Shane Long’.

Davies maintains the view that he wants to commit his future to the club but he has not been offer anything yet, telling the Hull Daily Mail: ‘There’s not been an offer at this stage.

‘I’d like to sit down and talk about a new deal but there’s not been an offer put my way.’

He still has two-years left on his contract, which he says the club may feel is ‘long enough’….

The captain did also reveal a little disappointment as not having this sorted out yet, adding: ‘That’s a little bit disappointing but it’s one of those things. I’ve got two years on my contract so maybe the club sees that as long enough.

‘If the opportunity came up I’d love to sit down and discuss my future here but that’s not my place. I can’t force anyone’s hand into getting a new contract. That’s up to the chairman and the manager. I’m hoping there.’

There isn’t an immediate rush to tie him down is there, it seems that Curtis feels he is entitled to a pay rise though? This will come in good time.
