City Needs Midfielder’s !

This week’s poll asked the question; ‘Where do City need to strengthen in the summer? and following the recent “Who’s Staying part 2” article, this seems a fitting topic.

Your votes suggest that City fans want a new midfield. In fact, 62% of you voted for a new central midfielder.

Many times this season, City fans have sat back at the KC and wondered why can’t we have a player like that. After watching performers such as Jim Magilton and Dennis Wise, City fans want a player with the experience that will lead City to a season free from relegation woe.

Although most fans believe our midfield players will remain at the club in the Summer, many of you want to see us strengthen this area with new additions. Many names are put around, but we will have to wait and see what happens!

Apart from the central midfielders, the next cause of concern were our wingers, with 26% of you wanting players to be brought in.

Stuart Elliott has failed to find the form that saw him score 27 goals last season, although there has been glimpses. On the other side, Stuart Green has started to play as if he wants a new contract with the club, but still you want new players to be brought in.

Again, many names have been put around in recent weeks including the likes of John Oster and Kris Commons but again we will have to wait and see what happens.

Once City have a new midfield, most City fans seem quite content to see what happens, believing the rest of the team is up to mid-table Championship standard.

4% of you would like new centre-backs and full-backs respectively and 2% voted for new goalkeepers and strikers.

Ultimately, midfield has been voted as the key area to strengthen, and if City can do that effectively over the summer we might not be competing in another relegation battle this time next year!
