Hull City have confirmed the signings of James Harper and Nolberto Solano.

The first two acquisitions of the summer arrive on free transfers having been released by Sheffield United and Nigel Pearson`s former side Leicester City respectively.

Neither are expected to feature in tonight`s friendly with Winterton Rangers, with both expected to feature instead against North Ferriby United on Wednesday night.

James Harper has signed a two year deal at the KC Stadium following his release from Sheffield United, having featured 34 times last season, scoring 4 goals. Peruvian Solano has signed a one year deal following his release from Leicester where he featured 11 times.

The 35 year old is an experienced campaigner, having played in England for Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham United, operating on the right wing or more recently at right-back.

Live updates from tonight`s friendly with Winterton Rangers will be available in the Vital Hull forum.

It is good to see some new faces coming in; but do not see what Solano will bring at the present time other than a bit of experience. I would still expect McShane to be first-choice RB.

thank god its only a 1 year deal, does this herald more departures?

I think there are still more to come Paul; but do not feel these provide any insight into what’s going on.

Thought we had enough experience already, guess he comes cheap and will be a fringe player.
Still the manager knows what he has to budget with, knows the player and if he can get anythhing out of him he is the man to do it.
More concerned about Bullard blowing the Celtic deal which will have repurcussions to squad building.
