The February ‘Player of the Month’ nominations have been cast and Hull striker Fraizer Campbell is one of the four contenders.

The on-loan Manchester United striker has been in fine form over February, with his goals having helped City continue their impressive form as they chase the play-off spots. Three goals in consecutive games helped earn the Tigers five points and maintain their recent good form.

Campbell’s last effort, a 25 yard curler at West Brom will also see him in contention for goal of the season when nominations start.

The on-loan striker has been the talk of much transfer speculation this week with Charlton Athletic rumoured to have prepared a bid for the young starlet. Paul Duffen has also insisted that Hull will make a move should Manchester United make the striker available in the summer, and our latest poll asked you if Campbell should be signed?

With £2 million being the figure suggested in the media, it came as no surprise that 97% of you voted to say the money should be spent to acquire Campbell permanently come the summer.

Campbell is joined in the running for the award with Paul Dickov, who netted twice for Blackpool during an entertaining 2-2 draw at the KC Stadium. As well as Dickov, Stoke’s Liam Lawrence and Plymouth’s Peter Halmosi, who have both been in fine scoring form, are also nominated for the award.

The winner of the award will be announced on Monday 3rd March on Sky Sports ‘Big League Weekend’ – the day before Hull City take on Burnley in a crucial Championship match.

I hope he wins, well deserved – hmmm…that might attract more managers to him and force the price up – On second thoughts, I hope he comes last!!!
