Hull suffered the disappointment of defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday but we can, all being well should he deliver on his promise, celebrate the arrival of Brian Lenihan.

The defender has signed a three-year deal having signed from Cork City.

Cork chairman Pat Lyons told their official website: ‘We never want to see our best players depart, however we are pleased that we have reached what we believe to be a fair and reasonable agreement with Hull for his transfer.

‘Cork City FC stands to benefit further should Brian continue to progress as we all expect him to do.’

Rumour has it that ‘several’ topflight rivals to Hull wanted to sign the right back but it was us that have managed to convince Cork not only to sell but convinced the 20-year-old that the KC Stadium is the right place for his future development.

The fee for the Republic of Ireland U21 international is undisclosed but we know he has signed a three-year contract.

Uruguay international striker Abel Hernandez should complete a club record transfer today from Palermo with George Boyd heading to Burnley to conclude our transfer business.
