Michael Dawson, one of a few players set to miss the meeting with Derby on Friday, will not only miss the next Hull game due to suspension he’ll miss number of other games too because of injury.

Having picked up an injury he suffered the insult of being booked against Bristol City on Saturday too! That booking meant, even if he wasn’t injured, he would be one of those suspended when Derby come to the KC Stadium on Friday for another live Sky Sports game.

The Official Website confirmed, in a short statement, today the captain has suffered a ‘grade two’ hamstring injury and that will keep him out for up to four-weeks.

‘Scans have confirmed that Michael Dawson sustained a grade two hamstring injury during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bristol City.

‘The injury is expected to keep Dawson out of action for three to four weeks.’

Dawson, due to collecting his fifth yellow card of the season and that means an automatic one-match ban, will be joined due to suspension by Andrew Robertson after he was booked in the draw at Ashton Gate too.

Steve Bruce, also talking on the Official Website, knows he needs to make changes and took off Moses Odubajo against Bristol City as a precaution.

‘Dawson would have been missing anyway as he’s picked up a hamstring injury.

‘It was around this time last year that we lost Dawson, and having also lost Meyler in the past week or so, let’s hope that that sort of luck isn`t coming to bite us on the backside again.

‘But the suspensions are the reason I took Moses Odubajo off in the last 15 minutes because if he had picked up a yellow card, he would have been missing for the Derby game too. I needed at least one of my full-backs (with Robertson already having been booked).

‘We’ll have a look at things during the week.’

The Hull boss added Abel Hernandez, who was rested after his international excursions and travels with Uruguay, will return though with the top goalscorer giving him another option up front after his ‘calculated risk’ at the weekend.

He added.

‘I made a big decision to leave Abel at home. It was this time last year that he hit the wall. We thought then that it was too much travelling for him to go back to Uruguay (for international duty) and back and with all the jetlag etc.

‘We took a calculated risk to go to Bristol City without him. Hopefully he’s refreshed and raring to go next week. He’ll train on Monday.’
