Diame’s West Ham Blast

Mo Diame, Hull’s transfer deadline day signing from West Ham United, has pulled no punches in hitting out at his former side.

The midfielder wasn’t happy with his constant ‘shutting around’ the team, with him filling a variety of positions during his two-years at Upton Park with him of the opinion that not being used in his favoured central midfield role means he was being ‘misused’.

He told the Daily Star: ‘At West Ham I was shunted around all the different positions. I remember one time I had to play as a striker.

‘That was not good for my career. I wanted to play for a club that is high in the Premier League table.’

There was more of a blast to come!

Now with Hull, securing an undisclosed fee move to the KC Stadium on transfer deadline day the former Wigan Athletic man (if he played under Steve Bruce during his time with Wigan I’m not sure) feels he will now be used in the right role.

Is he ‘putting himself in the shop window’ again? It sounds like he might but if he does produce his best for us then the 27-year-old will impress.

He added: ‘At least with Hull I will be certain of playing in my favoured role. I should have left West Ham a long time ago, as with them I wasn’t permitted to play in central midfield.

‘I wasn’t able to get the biggest clubs interested in me, as when they came to watch me I’d been put in a position that was not mine.

‘You lose your bearings when you get shunted around all the different positions.’

Ironically, as fate would have it, our next game after the international break is against West Ham on Monday 15th September, these thoughts will add some spice to that encounter!

One man that isn’t going to be on international duty now though is Alex Bruce, he’s pulled out of the Northern Ireland squad for their Euro 2016 qualifier with Hungary as his other half is about to give birth.
