Vital Hull member ‘dazdude’ sent us in a poll that he wanted to ask. Here are the results from his question – ‘How many new faces will the Tigers bring into the lair.’

With 77% of the votes, the prediction of bringing in two to five new faces was the clear winner.

City chairman Adam Pearson and manager Phil Brown have hinted at the possibility of bringing in up to five new faces already, with the potential for five the be leaving the club in the process.

Brown, according to the Hull Daily Mail, is currently working through an ‘exciting’ list of twelve players all from the Premiership or Championship. This decision heralds a new stance in the club’s transfer policy where an emphasis has been put onto experience rather than youth.

The club has suffered in previous seasons from signing lower league players with no experience of what the Championship has to offer. Although the likes of Michael Turner and Sam Ricketts have become good acquisitions after impressing in their first season’s in the Championship, the time it took them to settle and adjust to life in the Championship is what made Hull City’s previous season one of struggle.

The Tigers have already been busy in the transfer market with an offer reported to be on the table for out of contract defender Chris Lucketti from Sheffield United. Seth Johnson, the midfielder who won promotion with Derby County in yesterday’s play-off final is also reported to be on Phil Brown’s wanted list, but that potential move may be jeopardised by Derby’s promotion.

10% of fans said that the club will bring in one or two new players whilst 8% say the club will acquire between five and ten new players.

Although the club is in the early stages on negotiating with players, Phil Brown has already met an obstacle during his attempt to sign Dean Windass. After paying quarter of a million pounds for the players loan deal last season, the Bradford chairman now wants another matching offer if the player is to move. However, Hull’s valuation of the player is not the same, and although an outcome was expected at the beginning of this week, no news has yet arisen over how negotiations have gone.

With Derby winning promotion to the Premiership, Phil Brown’s transfer budget has been boosted by an extra £250,000. Although this may look measly compared to most of the other clubs in the league, the Tigers haven’t done bad to raise half a million pounds following Derby’s promotion and the earlier winnings from the Coca-Cola ‘Win A Player’ competition.

Now let’s put that money to good work!

We will be lucky to be honest , something is not right money wise I fear !

I hope we are one of the clubs chasing Billy Sharp?

I doubt it – especially if his price tag is the reported 1.5 million. I’d like to think we were going for the player but I’d be shocked if he was to become our player!

Billy Sharpe? As things stand we have two chances: Bob Hope and no hope. For that we’d need real money, and I suspect AP is having to be very careful with the pennies right now.

Parky was an expensive mistake but I didn’t know there is cash problems now/

I think he means in relation to the other teams in our league. If we took the finances of all the other teams, I imagine we would be near the bottom of the list.
