Manager Steve Bruce has said he was delighted to see Adama Diomande get the winner following his injury hit start to life at the KC Stadium.

Speaking to the Hull Daily Mail following last night’s two one victory over Queens Park Rangers in the first game of 2016 for the club, Bruce said he was delighted with the gritty away win that he hopes will see us turn the corner once more on our travels.

With Diomande also getting the winner following his return to fitness, he was hoping it would be the confidence boost needed to really get himself going at the club.

‘We rolled our sleeves up and that’s what you have to do in the Championship. They got the equalising goal and then we went straight up the other end and nicked the winner. I don’t know much about it, but it was a great ball by Sam Clucas. The goal will be good for Adama Diomande. It’s been frustrating for him. He came in here thinking he had a three-week groin strain and the top goalscorer in Norway.’

Bruce went on to say that now he’s fit and in contention, hopefully he’ll give us something different in the forward areas.

‘He will give us something a little bit different. He’s fit and powerful and likes to run in behind. In that respect I’m really pleased for him because it’s been a frustrating time for him.’

With news that Isaac Hayden was set to return to Arsenal this weekend, Bruce also said that he could well return and stay with us if a proposed permanent deal falls through for him, and the club have also agreed a loan deal with Leyton Orient for youngster Calaum Jahraldo-Martin.
