More from manager Steve Bruce following last night’s victory over Queens Park Rangers, and confirmation of the expected loan move of Calaum Jahraldo-Martin to Leyton Orient.

Speaking to the Official Site as more of his post game summations come out, Bruce admitted it wasn’t a classic by any stretch but Hull did what was needed to get all three points.

‘It wasn`t a classic, but at least we saw a bit of resilience and we rolled our sleeves up, which you have to do in the Championship. They got the equaliser late but we went straight down the other end and scored a second. Adama didn`t know much about it, but it was a great ball in from Sam Clucas and the goal will do ‘Dio’ the world of good because he`s had a difficult 12 or 13 weeks out with injury. We`d let ourselves down in the previous three or four away games, but it happens in this division. Look at Brighton, unbeaten for four months and now they`ve lost three on the trot at home. I`ll never repeat what has been said in a changing room, but one or two of them have had a flea in their ear to put it nicely and been reminded what their jobs are away from home. The first thing you have to do is roll your sleeves up and put your boots on and that brings the honesty and integrity. The two real moments of quality against QPR – Diame`s pass and the finish from Hernandez for the opening goal – were exceptional and saw us through really.’

With questions about the omission of on loan Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom, Bruce added.

‘He`s only a boy, he`s played something like 24 games so far and sometimes you have to take them out to let them rediscover what it`s all about. It sounds ridiculous, but he`s got a horrible wisdom tooth that needs sorting as well, so we`re going to give him a week off and we hope that works for him.’

As for Jahraldo-Martin, his loan to League Two side Leyton Orient has now been confirmed by Hull.

The 22 year old Antigua and Barbuda international heads to the club initially on a one month deal, and he actually debuted against them for us in the League Cup tie back in 2013.

Hopefully it’ll be a good spell for him as he continues his own development.
