Following the injury sustained by Abel Hernandez in the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers in midweek it has now been confirmed he will be sidelined for the next six months.

Having been substituted late on in the game with a suspected Achilles injury, the player underwent assessments on Wednesday after being stretchered off and unfortunately for us, he has sustained an Achilles issue and he’ll be sidelined for the next six months.

He has already undergone surgery having met with the consultant last night.

Head coach Leonid Slutsky told the Official Site.

‘We have lost Abel for six months, which is very, very disappointing. For me, Abel is one of the best forwards in the Championship and is a huge player for us. It is also a big blow for Abel himself because he had made a very good start to the season and was playing very well for the team.’

Slutsky added.

‘We wish him all the very best in his recovery and look forward to seeing him back out on the pitch as soon as possible.’
