The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game between Queens Park Rangers and Hull City this Saturday.

Hull City travel to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday August 19 for the game at Loftus Road and the match carries a 3pm kick off.

Referee: James Linington
Assistant Refs: Michael George and Adam Matthews
Fourth Official: Ian Cooper

Match Day referee Linington has officiated three games in 2017/18, showing 14 yellow cards.

He took in 35 games in 2016/17 with a return of 146 yellow cards and four red cards.

That year he showed eight yellow cards on three occasions.

He took in 26 matches in 2015-16 and in those games, across all competitions and football divisions, he handed out a total of 74 yellow cards and four red cards.

He was most card happy in the match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Middlesbrough on October 24 with seven yellow cards shown.

Linington is required to make the short trip over from his home on the Isle of Wight when appointed to EFL fixtures. He is a very experienced official having refereed in the EFL for 10 seasons. In 2010, he was named fourth official for the FA Trophy Final at Wembley, and returned to the same stadium two weeks later to referee the League Two Play-Off Final between Dagenham and Redbridge and Rotherham United.

Let`s hope it`s not another repeat and more of the players edge closer to automatic bans.

I never really mind who the officials are with a couple of exceptions of course. So long as they read the game well, don’t get card happy and remain completely impartial I am comfortable with most. It’s human nature to make an odd error and I guess they do balance out over 46 games……
