Hull City have confirmed the signing of Besiktas goalkeeper Allan McGregor in a deal worth £1.8 million.

The 31 year old, who spent six seasons with Rangers and who has been capped by Scotland on 29 occasions, has signed a three year contract at the KC Stadium.

The signing of McGregor has been expected for some time and despite showing interest in Leicester City keeper Kasper Schmeichel, McGregor emerged as City`s first-choice target in order to resolve a long standing goalkeeping issue.

For three seasons, City have operated without an “owned” number one, relying on a series of loans to keep goal, the most recent being David Stockdale. Although Stockdale was in line for a return, an inflated price quoted by Fulham saw City turn their interest elsewhere.

With McGregor`s arrival, City have allowed youngster Mark Oxley to leave on loan. Having made just one senior start for City as a late substitute last season, Oxley has been allowed to join League 1 Oldham Athletic on a six month loan.
