Hull’s final game before the European adventure begins on Thursday came at league 1 outfit Barnsley on Saturday afternoon.

Further minutes on the pitch are the priority ahead of the first leg of the third qualifying round against AS FK Trencin but a win would have also been nice, as it was the game ended in a 1-1 draw at Oakwell.

Following a goalless first half we took the lead just minutes after the break as Shane Long charged down Barnsley ‘keeper Adam Davies’ clearance following a short Lewin Nyatanga back pass.

A mistake by our ‘keeper Eldin Jakupovic, when he misjudged a long ball, allowed Conor Hourihane to finish into an empty net on the hour-mark to ensure that the game ended in a one-one draw.

Some good minutes were played with Steve Bruce deciding that a few would benefit from playing the full 90-minutes so some did just that.

Hull City: Steve Harper (Eldin Jakupovic 45), Liam Rosenior (Joe Dudgeon 63), Ahmed Elmohamady, James Chester, Paul McShane, Tom Ince (George Boyd 63), Tom Huddlestone, Shane Long (Yannick Sagbo 63), Robert Snodgrass (Stephen Quinn 63), Jake Livermore, Sone Aluko (Robbie Brady 63).
