With Phil Parkinson searching for a striker to replace the injured Jon Parkin, the front-runner has emerged as being Neil Shipperley.

The Sheffield United man has found Premiership football difficult to come by and Parkinson sees his experience as a vital asset whilst the club battles against relegation.

The rumours will be confirmed tonight when the transfer deadline closes later on today, meaning Phil Parkinson only has a matter of hours to get a new face into the building.

The thirty-two year old is negotiating a deal with the club to remain until the New Year before leading striker Jon Parkin is expected to return from injury.

With Hull City travelling to Norwich at the weekend, Shipperley would be expected to go straight into the team as the lone striker in Parkinson’s favoured 4-5-1 formation. Parkinson needed someone with the ability to hold the ball up and Shipperley should be perfect for this role.

Yesterday, on Radio Humberside, it was also announced that Parkinson had looked at the availability of Coventry City striker Dele Adebola but an injury to Stern John meant that Coventry needed to retain the player, ruling out the possibility of any possible loan move.

With the deadline fast approaching, stay at Vital Hull as we update you with the latest news.

I too am unsure of his imminent arrival but let’s give the lad a chance at least. He has vital experience and should lead the line well.

I am unsure aswel when we got lots of forwards ready for a chance. I hope if we get him he does the trick,When did he last play a game because he aint played this year? It dont say much about our forwards we got at the mo in Bridges and Forster.Has he waisted 600k they? I think we should go back to 4-4-2 with Bridges and Forster upfront.
