I Will Get Goals

Peter Taylor believes this goal will act as a platform from which Stuart Elliott will build upon over coming games.

After an impressive season in League 1, seeing the left winger scoring 29 goals, the Northern Ireland international has strugled to come to grips with life in the Championship.

His goal in the 2-1 defeat at brighton was only his third goal this season from 15 starts. But Taylor believes this will boost his confidence before heading into a tricky run of fixtures.

‘Stuart needed a goal and that should have given him a lift. He’s a smashing boy and he doesn’t lack confidence although obviously when you aren’t scoring, it can knock you.’

The manager added, ‘I’d never fault his effort or his enthusiasm. He’s trying very hard but he just needs to start playing that bit better on a consistent basis.’

Elliott was recalled to the first team after watching the last four games from the substitutes bench. Elliott was moved into a striking position, with Barmby pushing forwards in a tactical switch before the match.
