Hull City have today announced the signing of Burton Albion’s Jackson Irvine.

The 24 year old Australian international heads to the KCOM on a three year deal with the option for a fourth year built in and having been born in Melbourne he headed to the UK and Celtic’s youth set up back in 2010 and played for Ross County before moving to Burton just over 12 months ago.

He has scored 11 times in 49 appearances for his former club last season, including finding the net against us earlier this month.

Speaking to the Official Site after signing his new deal, a delighted Irvine explained.

‘I couldn’t be happier and I’m just excited to be starting the next chapter of my career. It has all happened relatively quickly, but once I found out about the interest from Hull City it was an easy decision even though leaving Burton was difficult in its own way. I just can’t wait to get started now.’

He went on to say.

‘Having the chance to come here and progress and move forward with a club that has great ambitions is something that I’m delighted about. It’s been a big few years for me – coming through the youth team at Celtic, moving to Ross County, coming down to England with a year at Burton and now finding myself at a club like Hull City. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind but I’m so excited to be here.’

With the player scoring against us and then being sent off, he went on to say.

‘It was very much an afternoon of mixed emotions! There was a fantastic atmosphere from the fans and I remember it was quite intimidating stepping out as an away player that day. I do hope the fans remember me more for the goal than what happened after! I hope they will now see more goals like that from me. I was pretty clinical last season at Burton and hopefully I can create a few chances and score a few goals here now..

Adding.

‘The one thing I do try and show is a high energy game and I like to cover the ground and be involved in the game at both ends. At 24, I’m still developing as a player and still have a lot to learn but being around the quality of player we have here and working with the staff at this Club will help me to grow as a player in the coming years.’
