James Chester has signed a new contract with Hull City which will keep the defender at the club until 2016.

Following weeks of speculation and months of contract talks, a third offer was finally accepted by James Chester earlier today who signed a new three year deal to stay at the KC Stadium.

With just twelve months remaining on his deal, national reports had started to suggest that the former Manchester United defender was attracting interest from other Premier League sides including Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

A £300,000 signing from Old Trafford after impressing at Carlisle United, Chester has evolved into a crucial part of the City defence. Since signing in 2011, Chester has gone on to make 114 league and cup appearances, contributing four goals.

Having seen Chester sign a new contract, Steve Bruce is still waiting for Paul McShane to commit to his new deal, while Sky Sports has reported that the extension of Liam Rosenior`s stay at the club has been sealed following an agreement to a new two year deal.
