Hull left it late but made one last foray into the summer transfer window to bring in Hatem Ben Arfa on loan.

The French international, who has fallen out of favour (and fallen out with the manager and club big time) at Newcastle United was secured on a season-long loan added to the club record signing of Abel Hernandez, Mo Diame and the fellow loan signing of Gaston Ramirez.

Speaking on the official website Steve Bruce said this of the deal: ‘Hatem is a superb addition to the squad, and brings a lot of attacking flare.

‘We look forward to welcoming him to the Club.’

If Ben Arfa is at his footballing best, steers clear of any problematic issues he has and can also stay fit, then he will be a great asset to Hull this season – if not then it could turn out to be a long loan, lets hope it is the former!

In order to get this one over the line a deadline extension, which is granted if a clear indication that a deal will be done in the following hour or so is given, had to be requested for the 27-year-old.
