In a frantic end to the transfer window Steve Bruce, with the help of the clubs owner of course, was able to bring in another four players on deadline day.

Jake Livermore, Tom Ince, Robert Snodgrass and Michael Dawson were the most high profile signings in the transfer window for Hull up until Monday, but moves for several up and coming youngsters were also done.

A further four deals were secured on transfer deadline day with Bruce happy to get them over the line, some didn’t look like they would make it.

He told sky sports news HQ: ‘On paper there are some really, really good signings we’ve made today.

‘I think what summed the day up was when I rang Ben Arfa to see where he was and he was stuck in York, and you’re thinking ‘What’s he doing in York?’ That was a bit fraught, but overall we’re delighted with what we’ve done.

‘We’ve managed to bring what seems like four players on the day, but two or three of them have had a week’s work gone into them.

‘We got what we wanted.’

The transfer record was smashed to secure Abel Hernandez for a fee in the region of £10m with Mohamed Diame coming in from West Ham for £3.5m, Gaston Ramirez and Hatem Ben Arfa of course arrived on season-long loan deals.

In all we spent some £36m on the 11 new signings during the transfer window as we look to build on last season and consolidate ourselves as a premier league club.
