Livermore Joins Tigers

Leeds United midfielder David Livermore has joined Hull City for an undisclosed fee little over a week after signing for the Yorkshire club from Millwall.

Livermore is a central midfielder who can also play on the wing. His experience is a vital asset to a youthful looking City side and his presence in the City squad is something that can only be beneficial to the club – especially as the Tigers lacked players with Championship experience last year.

The news of Livermore’s transfer comes as a surprise to the City fans – especially as the player had only signed for rivals Leeds United a week ago from League 1 side Millwall. The explanation for his sudden departure from Elland Road was due to a lack of first team opportunity following the arrival of Kevin Nicholls from Luton Town – a story made even stranger by the fact Nicholls has been sidelined for several weeks after suffering an injury in training only days after joining the club.

Manager Phil Parkinson has revealed that Livermore will be involved in the squad for the club’s season opener at West Bromwich Albion but whether or not he will start the match is unclear. With Dean Marney and John Welsh impressing during pre-season in the centre of midfield, it would seem that winger Stuart Elliott’s place is the position most under threat.

Livermore’s arrival may signal the end for Keith Andrews. After a series of poor performances during pre-season, Andrews has been linked with a move away from the KC and with the versatility of Livermore meaning he can fulfill Andrew’s position in the team along with the returning Ian Ashbee, it appears that Keith Andrews’ future lies away from the KC Stadium.

I think he be a good signing for us.Can play anywhere on the lefted apart from in Goal and up front. I heard Parky was after another Leeds player but got knocked back and offered him instead. Hope we do get rid of Andrews,he is very poor and was meant to be a big signing last season. I would stick with Elliott on the Lefted or maybe play him up front with Duffy and put Livermore on the Lefted wing.
