September became October and so the Coca-Cola Managers of the Month for the 2nd month of the season were announced, and the names were all ones very familiar to City fans.

The League 2 MoM turned out to be Danny Wilson, manager of Hartlepool Utd, City’s recent opponents in the Carling Cup. In deciding on Wilson, the chairman of the decision panel, Chris Kamara, said ‘August was something of a nightmare for Danny Wilson’s side. They were expected to be among the early pacesetters in League 2 but suffered a poor start. Full credit must go to Danny for Hartlepool’s amazing turn around in September, especially their performances towards the end of the month which saw them win three games on the bounce and score an incredible 12 goals.’

The League 1 MoM winner was our old friend, Brian Laws of Scunthorpe Utd (personally I think he’s welcome to it!). Chris Kamara again: ‘Scunthorpe did not enjoy the best of starts to the new campaign but have really turned things around in September. Brian has put together a really strong squad with some prolific strikers and is building a football club that has every chance of success in League 1 this season.’

Finally the Championship MoM was a certain Geraint Williams of Colchester Utd, Phil Parkinson’s successor at Layer Road. It seems PP’s footballing spirit has remained close to the U’s, shame it hasn’t made its way to the KC quite yet! Kamara: ‘Geraint Williams is doing a fantastic job at Colchester. It was a difficult opening month or so for him as he only got appointed just before the start of the season and lost a couple of key players in the August transfer window. But the U’s have produced some fantastic performances in September and Geraint deserves all the plaudits for the way in which he has masterminded their superb unbeaten run.’
