New on-loan defender Danny Mills made a fine start to his City career as he played a vital role in City picking up their first three points at home against Sheffield Wednesday.

Danny Mills was signed on an initial two month loan on Thursday but went straight into the team on Friday night in place of Sam Collins. Collins may have felt unlucky to lose his place in the team after a set of impressive performances but the performance of Mills suggested Parkinson made the correct decision.

Mills’ didn’t make the best start to his Tigers career when after only four minutes, the referee decided Mills had handled the ball from a corner-kick. A penalty was awarded despite TV replays showing the Sheffield Wednesday striker was the man whom had handled the ball.

Apart from the wrongful decision early on, Mills grew in stature as the match went on as he showed his Premiership class. If his performances continue, his move to another premiership club would be an almost certain occurrence in January. Mills presence in the defence alongside Michael Turner also saw the young centre-backs best performance in a City shirt to date.

Despite only being at the club for three days, Mills has made an immediate impression on the City faithful, with 94% of voters in the latest Vital Hull poll declaring the defenders acquisition was a good one.

Danny Mills may feature against Hartlepool in midweek but his place may be under threat depending on Manchester City’s willingness to let the player be cup-tied, a decision which may hinder a later transfer move to another team.

The Hartlepool game will also see Michael Bridges be cup-tied but after Hartlepool`s three nil loss to Shrewsbury Town this afternoon, City should be expecting nothing less than a safe passage into the third round of the Carling Cup.

Delaney, Coles, Turner and Collins will learn much from Mills, when on the training ground and on the field of play. I think his loan period will see City move up the table on the back of his defensive performances.

Plus I thought Bo had his best performance of the season. Confidence in the defence in front of him perhaps?
