Mills Would Have Been Brilliant

The transfer collapse of Man City`s Danny Mills is a blow for the forty-four percent of fans who voted to say that his possible arrival would have been “brilliant.”

The Man city defender was set for a loan deal until the end of the season but questions over the players fitness following an injury sustained during an earlier loan spell with the club have stalled any potential move. Leeds united were also reported to be interested in their former player but their bid was also turned down for the same reason.

Mills arrival would have added a depth of experience to the City defence having played in the top flight with Leeds United, Charlton Athletic and Manchester City as well as representing his country at right-back on numerous occasions.

Phil Parkinson brought Danny Mills to the club on an initial three month loan deal during the early stages of the Championship season and Mills immediately became a favourite with the City faithful. His committed performances helped City to gain some valuable victories, but his loan spell was cut short after suffering a foot injury that resulted in the player returning to Manchester City halfway through his loan deal.

Although a return seemed imminent, his failure to adequately recover from injury has halted any potential move on deadline day.

However, not everyone will see this collapse as a bad thing, as twenty-eight percent of fans voted to say his arrival would not fill them with much confidence. Sometimes, the arrival of a “Premiership star” blinds the fact that they are here for a reason – that they are no longer good enough to play in the Premiership.

During his earlier loan spell, Mills was often caught out of position and although this may have been down to the quality on the pitch next to him, his performances we re not always what was expected from a man trying to secure a deal with another premiership team.

With under three hours remaining, it seems that Hull city will have to avoid relegation from the Championship with the current squad as no further additions look likely to be made.
