Boaz has shrugged off claims he can play for England and has reinforced the belief that City must first of all try to avoid the drop.

Myhill was an influential part of City’s winning team on Saturday saving two penalties which has lead to more calls that the player can feature for England.

Taylor has stated before he thinks his goalkeeper can earn England honours and is reported to be interesting the likes of Wigan, Charlton and Arsenal.

However, Myhill is more concerned with Championship survival.

‘It’s always great to hear your name being chanted by your own fans but ‘Myhill For Hull’ would do me at the minute!

‘I’m still a young boy. I’ve still got lots and lots to learn. We’re delighted for the fans that we’ve ended our losing run and we just want to keep them happy for the rest of the season.

‘We want to make sure they’re coming to watch us at places like this next year.

‘One win – no matter how enjoyable – does not make the rest of the season. We’ve shown what we can do by winning at Stoke.

‘Now, we’ve got to keep our standards up and gets as many wins as possible to make sure we stay in this division.’

Myhill saved penalties from Paul Gallagher and Luke Chadwick, and he was delighted with his overall performance.

‘I’m not so sure whether the first one was a penalty but that’s not for me to comment on. I looked at him (Gallagher) and his body shape and I just thought he was going to go to my right.

‘Craig Fagan came across and said he’d put it that way so I thought I’d take a chance. As for the second one, I think anyone would probably have saved it!

‘It was a different taker (Chadwick). He looked a clever lad and I just thought – not left, not right, I’m going to stay in the middle. Fortunately, that’s exactly where he stuck it and I didn’t have to move.

‘You are always pleased to save a penalty but the win is the most important thing. It was a great win for us.

‘We’d lost our last four games. I’m not saying it had got to the stage where we had to win but it’s a nice feeling.

‘It’s taken a bit of the pressure off and gives us some confidence. Hopefully, we can move on from this.’
