Hull City’s leading scorer Jon Parkin is hoping to return to action by the New Year.

After falling awkwardly early on in the victory over Wolves, striker Jon Parkin was carried off with ankle ligament damage.

Although early diagnosis had shown that the striker may be facing up to three months on the sidelines, a successful keyhole operation on Monday means the striker will miss the next six weeks of action.

With a return date believed to be the away fixture at Sheffield Wednesday, Parkinson will be hoping to get his leading scorer back in time to help ease the burden of the hectic Christmas period.

Parkin has been the only City striker to find the net on a ‘regular’ basis this season. With seven goals, he is well in-front of his fellow strikers.

Saturday’s defeat to Stoke City saw Nicky Forster given the chance to replace Parkin as the lone striker but the presence that ‘The Beast’ brings to the attacking line was missing.

After the match, Parkinson was quick to address the point, signalling his intent to bring in a loan striker as cover for the recuperating Jon Parkin. However, Parkinson will only have until Thursday to sign his loan striker as the deadline closes for loan deals before the window re-opens at the start of January.

The striker’s loss is a significant blow to the season but Michael Bridges and Nicky Forster must now step up and take the club forward. Both players have found first-team opportunities difficult to come by but this presents a huge opportunity to both players. The only question is if they can take it?

Semi-ggod news I presume. Come on Beast – get back in time for Leeds and lets beat them again. Both Leeds games, Sheff Wed and barnsley all in the space of just over a month – great!
