Parkinson Facing the Chop

Phil Parkinson is on the brink of losing his position as manager of Hull City after a dismal display against Colchester.

Despite going a goal up, Nicky Forster’s first for the club, Parky’s men soon conceded an equaliser. Despite being level at half-time, the second half proved to be one way traffic as Colchester stormed to a 5-1 victory.

A 5-1 loss is never acceptable, but had it been at Preston or Birmingham, some fans may have accepted it – but Colchester! A team that got promoted to the Championship last year made ours look no better than League 2 standard.

The game was billed as Phil Parkinson’s return but by the end of the second half, I’m sure he couldn’t wait to leave. The travelling fans that had made the long journey south now faced an unhappy and long return home.

Parkinson was quick to blame the team, saying that the ‘easy’ things hadn’t been done – by that I take it he means learning how to defend. In recent weeks, teams have threatened to humiliate us and it finally took Colchester to do just that. The City defence has looked shaky and yesterday`s performance added weight to the argument that something is very wrong at the club.

The phone-in on Radio Humberside following the match was filled with disgruntled fans calling for Parkinson’s resignation. A few weeks ago, Adam Pearson said he would stand by his manager, even if we were relegated. Would these words still be echoed now? However, the calls saying that Adam Pearson should leave were ludicrous.

There is no doubting that Saturday’s home fixture against Southampton is huge. A defeat and Parkinson will become an isolated figure. There aren’t many fans left supporting him after the dreadful display last night – a loss on Saturday and there will be none left.

Even with a victory, Phil Parkinson will still have a tough battle to hang onto his job as long as we remain pinned in the relegation zone. However, if we do send Parkinson packing, who will take over the reigns of our club?

Whatever happens, you’ve got a lot of hard word ahead of you Mr. Parkinson!

The players have been away since the Norwich game. Obviously to save on travelling and I guess to enhance team morale/bonding. Result says it all. You are quite correct, despite Hull being a City of rumour, something is clearly very wrong within the camp. I dont think relegation is part of APs 5 year plan.

I can’t see a plan that involves going backwards, that’s for sure.

maybe its a cunning plan that bladrick thought up…. if we fool the opposition into thinking we are rubbish during the first half of the season we can surprise them second half…. 😀

Even if we win on Sat, it will not change the fact that we are going down with this MUPPET.

seem to get through a few managers, who WOULD you (realistically) want at Hull?

I believe the only way out for Parky no wis that he is a secret member of the Magic Circle and somehow he has something up his sleeve to turn things around….

Although I fear sopunding Partonising, I truly felt sorry for Phil last night for some reason he has not got you playing at your full potential, and that I cannot understand, I wish you the best of luck. SINCERLEY!
