Yannick Sagbo has been suspended for two matches next season, after an Appeal Board upheld the FA’s appeal against his sanction following social media remarks.

Sagbo was charged with an Aggravated Breach of FA Rule E3 following comments he posted on twitter following former West Bromwich Albion striker Nicolas Anelka’s ‘quenelle’ gesture.

The FA deemed that his comment was ‘abusive and/or indecent and/or insulting and/or improper’ furthered by a reference to ‘ethnic origin and/or race and/or religion or belief’.

Sagbo admitted the charge when the FA levied it and the Independent Regulatory Commission fined him £15,000 and warned him about his future conduct, and instructed him to attend a compulsory education course.

Despite it being the IRC’s recommendation, the FA appealed against his punishment, citing that it was ‘so unduly lenient as to be unreasonable’ and that challenge has now been accepted.

Therefore, in addition to his earlier sanctions, Sagbo will now miss our first two competitive games of the coming season.

The exhausts the appeal system, and there is no right to challenge further.
